During this 1 year part-time course increase your knowledge and skills to be able to confidently teach people of all ages and capabilities from beginners through to experienced practitioners whether in 1 to 1 sessions or classes.

Learn how yoga can be used to reduce or eliminate pain from common injuries people may experience in their bodies.

Build your own specific business model that is a combination of classes, privates and workshops to generate a part time income.

Set up your business during the course so it is up and running by the time you finish.

Commencing Saturday April 17, 2027.

2 weekend in-person workshops (one at the start of the course and one at the end) and online classes in between.

 

This 130 hour Advanced Yoga Course will provide you with knowledge, skills and give you more confidence in teaching private clients.

WHAT WILL BE COVERED IN THE COURSE:

Structural Yoga Therapy

This course will give you the skills to observe, assess and be able to create effective yoga practices for individuals who are experiencing pain or discomfort in their bodies. Lower back, neck, hips, knees, ankles, shoulders… all major parts of the body will be covered.

Sequencing

Deepen your knowledge of sequencing for people in all stages of life and capabilities. This includes class sequencing as well as sequencing for individuals.

Anatomy

Relevant anatomy that enables you to understand how to help people with injuries and musculoskeletal imbalances.

Yoga Business Models, Websites

We will look at different ways to earn money as a Yoga Teacher. You will decide what works best for you and start to work towards the model you have chosen with help from Jean. If you don’t have a website yet, Jean will help you create one. If you do, Jean will work with you to optimise what you have already created.

Marketing, how to find clients

We will look at various way to find clients for your classes, 1 to 1 sessions and workshops.

How to teach Workshops

Learn the various aspects that make an interesting and engaging workshop.

Attendance:

35 online theory classes spread out over 1 year: Thursdays at 6pm- 7.15pm (Perth time) (43.75 hours)

2 in person weekend workshops with Jean in Perth. One at the start of the course (April 17 & 18, 2027) and one at the end. (24 hours)

10 online personal mentor sessions with Jean (60 minutes each) (10 hours)
This could be used for set up of your business, help with your website, questions for Jean about your clients and how to progress them, advice on classes, etc…

30 Independent Practice Asana Classes and 5 personal 30 minute 1 to 1 sessions to develop your own personal practice: (47.5)

Choose from 3 class times (AWST):

  • Mondays at 4pm

  • Wednesdays at 8am

  • Wednesdays at 4pm

  • Thursdays at 6am or 7am??? if there are enough people.

*If you are unable to attend these class times you can have private sessions with Jean at an increased cost

4 online observation classes observing Jean’s online classes (6 hours)

Adds up to 131.25 hours plus homework.

Cost $3350. Deposit of $500 to secure your place. Course can be paid in two installments of $1675 each.

Pre-requisites:
Must be a qualified Yoga Teacher with a minimum of 2 years experience teaching classes and have an interest in anatomy and how the body functions.

We need a minimum of 5 people to go ahead.

Break down of Classes:
Weekend 1 - Introduction, Teaching 1 to 1 classes and Working with the Neck
Teaching 1 to 1’s - 4 classes
Yoga Therapy - 20 classes
Business - 4 classes
Sequencing - 4 classes
Workshops - 3 classes
Weekend 2 - Practicum and Final Assessment

Some of the topics we will cover in the Yoga Therapy Section of the Course:

  • how to improve function (mobility and strength) using yoga asanas

  • common injuries and conditions such as: sciatica (spinal and piriformis origin), disc herniations, scoliosis, spondylolithesis, retrolithesis, pelvic floor disfunction, sacroiliac joint injuries, femoral acetabular impingement (impingement of the hip joint), plantar fascitis, ankle injuries. meniscus injury, etc…

  • how to approach yoga practice post surgery (with guidance from the surgeon)

  • expected timelines of recovery and stages of recovery

  • which postures to avoid and which to do for each type of injury/condition

  • the role of the autonomic nervous system in recovery from injury

  • reflexes

  • how to teach and structure 1 to 1 sessions for the purpose of recovery from injury

  • a combination of theory and practical discussion/practice of specific useful asanas
