JEAN CAMPBELL

I believe the role of a yoga teacher is to guide and educate, not to create rigid rules and cookie-cutter practices. As individuals, we need to learn which postures, breathing techniques and mental techniques are going to benefit us - and which ones won’t.

When we cultivate a clear understanding of how to use the asanas to work with our own body, we can gradually work to reduce or eliminate any pre-existing pain or discomfort. This understanding allows us to progress safely, building strength and agility.

As we learn the intricacies of the breath, we are able to develop the skills to quieten the mind and become more resilient in times of stress and challenge. This process of learning takes time, but it means that we truly learn how to practise in a way that is beneficial on all levels and can be adapted to different life stages and situations.

MY PERSONAL PRACTICE JOURNEY
I fell in love with yoga at the age of 23. The practice made me feel grounded, happy and physically stronger.

Since then I have been on a 30 year journey - exploring what it means to practise yoga through different “styles”, teachers, and stages of life. My yoga practice has been a symbolic “home” I can return to as circumstances change around me.

MY TEACHING JOURNEY
Within two years of my first yoga class I became a yoga teacher. For over 20 years I have also had the privilege of being a yoga teacher trainer.

I design and teach Yoga trainings, courses and workshops to help practitioners and teachers in their personal practice and teaching. My anatomy courses and workshops combine practical anatomy with postures and sequencing, to provide knowledge in 3 areas: how to progress in asana practice, injury prevention and recovery from injury.

Over the last 28 years I have taught classes, workshops and trainings in various locations: Malaysia, China, Germany, Switzerland as well as my home country Australia.

My qualifications are: Certificate IV in Yoga Teacher Training (1200 hours), ERYT 500 (Yoga Alliance), YACEP (Yoga Alliance), Yoga Therapy (Ganesh Mohan, Svastha Yoga) and Pranayama and Yogic Mindfulness studies with A.G. and Indra Mohan.
