ONLINE WORKSHOPS

These workshops will give you a deeper understanding of your own body, the skills to assess yourself and guidance on how to practice in a way that helps you work on any musculo-skeletal injuries you may have.

 

Understanding the hips, pelvis and sacroiliac joints

Sunday 24th September and Sunday 1st October, 2023

WHAT WILL BE COVERED:

  • explanation of the structure and function of the hips, pelvis and sacroiliac joints

  • how your hip and pelvic floor muscles affect your knees and lower back

  • how to improve function (mobility and strength) for this area using yoga asanas

  • common injuries and conditions such as: sciatica (piriformis origin), pelvic floor disfunction, sacroiliac joint injuries, hip muscle imbalances

  • which postures to avoid and which to do for each type of injury/condition

  • a combination of theory, practical discussion and practice of specific useful asanas

10am - 4pm each day, 1 hour lunch break (10 hours in total)
Location: Online using Zoom

Understanding the lower back/lumbar spine

WHAT WILL BE COVERED:

  • explanation of the structure and function of the lumbar spine

  • how to improve function (mobility and strength) for this area using yoga asanas

  • discussion of sciatica (lumbar spine origin), disk herniations and referred pain

  • which postures to avoid and which to do for those injuries

  • a combination of theory and practical discussion/practice of specific useful asanas

10am - 4pm, 1 hour lunch break (5 hours)
